PASCH andthe Modern Education Schools – a successful cooperation
Due to its modern educational methods and the support of tolerant and respectful students, the Modern Education Schools was one of the first partner schools of PASCH in Egypt.
Since the start of the cooperation in 2008, the school has been one of the most active partners of the project. To maintain and even improve the teachers’ qualification, MES continuously motivates its German teachers to participate in courses, workshops and seminars at the Goethe-Institute in Cairo as well as in Germany. The school’s German students successfully take part in the FIT-exams, internationally acknowledged exams for German language. In return, each year several studentsof the Modern Education Schools are being chosen by PASCH for a summer youth camp in Germany.
Regular activities offered by PASCH at MES include storytelling events – an experienced storyteller visits the school reading German children’s books that have been translated into Arabic. This project, addresses children who are going to choose their second foreign language in the upcoming school year, combines reading with creative activities. In addition, the students do learn their first German words in a playful way. Related to the storytelling project was a one-week reading workshop for pupils, which combined storytelling with many activities such as games, singing and acting.
Furthermore, the Modern Education Schools took part in several events, organized by PASCH: performance of two theatre groups, the participation in a drawing competition “Draw yourself in Germany”, the highly successful contribution to the PASCH talent show in 2010, as well as active support of regular events like the annual Christmas Festival.
The Big Read Egypt/U.S. is a collaborative global cultural initiative project of U.S. Department of State and the National Endowment of the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The Big Read Egypt/U.S. will create a forum for citizens of Egypt and United States to learn about the cultural history, traditions, lifestyles, people and civic life of each respective country by reading and discussing selected works of literature that represent, reflect, and comment upon each country's culture.
Shadow Days of MES Senior class are shining bright! Egypt future surgeons visited the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams Specialized Hospital & Cleopatra Hospital. We extend our deep gratitude to Dr.Tarek Samy & Dr.Sherif Sholkamy our P.T.A members for their full support for such a program.
* To visit Maspero; The Egyptian Radio and Television Union was a real challenge! A group of MES seniors were hosted by the prominent T.V Anchor, and an MES parent Mrs.Heba Hussein. They had a chance to watch Nile News Studios, a live broadcast of news on Radio Masr and the news room connected to many News networks.
